Opera Australia employs over 300 permanent artists and staff, and provides employment opportunities for up to 1000 people in any one year.
If you are interested in a career in the arts and working for Opera Australia, we offer a range of job opportunities, from performing as a singer, musician, dancer or actor, through to costume or set manufacturing, and stage management and technical production, and also marketing, events management, artist management and finance.
Our main work locations include The Opera Centre in Sydney and the Melbourne Opera Centre. These centres contain rehearsal, manufacturing and administration areas. We also operate stores at separate locations. Our artists and production staff rehearse and perform at the major capital city performance venues, and our touring company performs across regional Australia.
There are a number of ways in which we recruit new people to the Company. Performers are generally engaged through an audition process. There are periodic auditions for singers, and for players in the Orchestra. For many other positions, we recruit by advertising jobs vacancies. We also provide work experience opportunities for school students interested in a possible career in the arts.
