Considered by critics as the leading Spanish tenor, Andeka Gorrotxategi has a brilliant career which has taken him to some of the most prestigious theatres in Spain and Europe in the last two years: Teatro de la zarzuela (Madrid), Teatro de la Maestranza (Sevilla), Teatro Campoamor (Oviedo), La Fenice (Venecia), Ópera de Roma (Caracalla) and Landestheater (Salzburgo). He has sung at Teatro Bicentenario (México) and Teatro Argentino (La Plata) too.
Andeka was born at Abadiño (Bilbao). He started his Vocal Studies with Ana Begoña Hernández and continues with his singing lessons with Elisabetta Fiorillo in Rome and the tenor Francisco Casanova in EEUU.
In 2008/2009 season he sang "La primera noche de Walpurgis" by F. Mendelssohn and “Mefistofele” (Faust) by A. Boito at the Euskalduna Auditorium in Bilbao, supported by the “Asociación Musical Alfredo Kraus” (AMAK).
In 2011 he began his international career singing "M. Butterfly" in Novara and Bergamo’s Donizetti Festival.
In 2012 he sang “El Gato Montés” in a new José Carlos Plaza’ s production at Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid) and Teatro Calderon in Valladolid, "Werther" at the La Plata’s Teatro Argentino, “Belisario” at Bergamo’s Donizetti Festival and “M.Butterfly” at Pamplona’s Teatro Gayarre.
In 2013 he sang "I Masnadieri" and "M.Butterfly" at Venice’s La Fenice, “Werther” at Salzburg’s Landestheater, “M. Butterfly” at León’s Teatro Bicentenario in México, "El Gato Montés” at Seville’s Maestranza and Oviedo’s Teatro Campoamor and “Tosca” at Rome’s Caracalla and Padova’s Teatro Verdi.
In 2014 he sings “Curro Vargas” at Madrid’s Teatro de la Zarzuela, “El Gato Montés” in Lisboa, “Madama Butterfly” for Opera Australia, “Carmen” at Amazonas Festival of Manaos and Rome’s Opera and “Tosca” at León’s Teatro Bicentenario in México. He will sing his first “Norma” at Beijing’s Opera House conducted by Renato Palumbo and “Don Carlo” at Padova’s Teatro Verdi.
In 2015 he will debut at Salzburg’s Festival with “Il Trovatore” (Manrico). He will sing it again at the Amazonas Festival of Manaos. Then, he will sing “Tosca” at the Dresde’s Semperoper and “Goyescas” at Madrid’s Teatro Real conducted by Plácido Domingo.
