Mariana Pentcheva


The Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Mariana Pentcheva has rapidly become one of the most highly respected artists of her generation. She has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses and festivals, including Teatro alla Scala, ROH Covent Garden in London, Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, Teatro Real in Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona, Teatro de La Maestranza in Sevilla, Opernhaus in Zürich, New National Theatre of Tokyo, San Diego Opera, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

She has often worked with several important conductors, such as Riccardo Chailly, Daniele Gatti, Antonio Pappano, Philippe Jordan, Vladimir Jurowski, Gustav Kuhn, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Zoltán Peskó, Emmanuel Krivine. Her repertory include such works as Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino, Il trovatore, Falstaff, Don Carlo, Aida, Cavalleria rusticana, Adriana Lecouvreur, La Gioconda, Oedipus rex, Aleksandr Nevskij, Norma, Möise et Pharaon, Tannhäuser, Lohengrin.
