Destination NSW in association with the producers of My Fair Lady are pleased to announce that stage and film icon, Julie Andrews, will be sharing the stage with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, for an intimate conversation hosted by esteemed journalist Jane Hutcheon.
The original production of Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady, under the direction of legendary Moss Hart, starring Rex Harrison and a very young Julie Andrews, took Broadway by storm 60 years ago. It was Miss Andrews who defined the character of Eliza Doolittle forever more and dazzled audiences in what became the longest theatrical run in the history of music theatre at that time. It also catapulted Miss Andrews' career into some of the most successful and classic movies of all time.
Now in its 60th anniversary, Opera Australia is thrilled to have the opportunity of launching a worldwide revival of this beautiful musical in our very midst at the Sydney Opera House under the direction of Miss Andrews.
As a lead up to this milestone event, mother and daughter will share fascinating insights into their unique and oft-time converging careers as writers/producers, their philanthropic passions, advocacy for the arts and exciting plans for the future. Audience members will be given the opportunity to submit questions of their own.
This special one-off event on Sunday 28 August will be moderated by Jane Hutcheon, presenter of ABC TV's popular talk show One Plus One.
Don’t miss this unforgettable experience. Tickets are limited. Don’t delay.
This is a rare moment to hear insights and revisit history from the very artist who made it. Only in Sydney.
