The Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program at Opera Australia is a two-year training program for selected young Australian opera singers to supplement their already evident talent and performance skills.
By becoming involved closely with the rehearsal and performance activity of Opera Australia, these talented young artists are able to develop under the tutelage of more experienced opera a performers.
We fund their salary, and create opportunities for solo parts in mainstage productions.
They participate in workshops and master classes with leading singers and conductors.
The program takes emerging talent to the doors of opportunity where they can build their own performance personality.
Opera Australia works with each participant to create a unique, tailor made development program which may include language coaching, stagecraft and event choreography.
Young Artists perform five free recitals per year prior to select Opera Australia performances as part of their development.
More than 100 artists have been through Opera Australia's Young Artist Program since its inception in 1984.
