Rachel Westwood holds the position of Tutti Violin in the Opera Australia Orchestra having first joined the Orchestra in 1991. Rachel started her musical studies at the age of six. In addition to the violin, Rachel also plays the mandolin. Rachel has played with the Royal Swedish Opera, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and has toured with Luciano Pavarotti.
Fun fact: The sheer fun of playing mandolin, which has only happened in ballet season for a mixed bill including the Vivaldi Double Mandolin Concerto, and en masse in Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, is a fond memory. The mandolin in Don Giovanni is entrusted to a professional, but maybe one day.
