Aida on the Beach

Volunteer at Griffith Opera on the Beach

We're looking for volunteers on the Gold Coast to assist with Griffith Opera on the Beach 2017. The volunteers will assist with various roles across the site on Coolangatta Beach, such as front of house, information points, ticket scanners and concierge.

Griffith Opera on the Beach is all about Australia’s national opera company connecting and making art with community members on the Gold Coast.

For community members this is an opportunity for locals to become involved in this landmark arts event.

What's involved?

Volunteers should be willing to regularly attend and enthusiastically participate, demonstrating a high level of teamwork and communication. Volunteers should also follow internal Opera Australia policies, including WHS and Codes of Conduct. Volunteers will be required to cover all their own expenses, including travel and food expenses.

Volunteers are expected to be available for the induction date and for at least one performance, including the general dress rehearsal. An online induction must also be completed prior to commencement.

You will be required to fill in a health declaration form as part of your induction process to give a clear indication of any relevant existing injury or additional care requirements. This will allow the Company and Production Manager to take reasonable measures to prevent accidents or aggravate injury to make your involvement safe and enjoyable.

What we'll give you

Opera Australia will provide all volunteers with the relevant training to fulfil their appointed role.

Volunteers will receive two complimentary tickets for their family and friends to the general dress rehearsal on 20 September 2017.

You will be rostered on to shifts between the hours of 4:00pm and 10:00pm.

Our site opens from 5pm each performance day, as we invite our audiences to arrive as the sun is setting and take in the view with a glass of bubbles as dusk falls, to meet their friends and family for an alfresco dinner, then settle in for a night of singing and spectacle at the water’s edge. Our pop-up opera house has capacity for nearly 4000 audience members.

Performances will then start at 6.30pm. This is an all-weather event and Opera Australia is committed to going ahead with a performance even in doubtful or unfavourable weather conditions. Any cancellations will be in line with our wet weather policy when we feel that it presents a risk for performers and patrons.
