The Force of Destiny

Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House

From the opening notes of Verdi's most famous overture, you are swept up in The Force of Destiny, an action-packed melodrama of passion, honour, vendetta and death. Leonora and Alvaro love one another but her family is set against the match. They prepare to elope but are instead caught up in war.

This thrilling new production uses the powerful iconography of Spain in richly detailed sets and costumes. An all-star international cast is led by Svetla Vassileva.

"...this is a chance to hear one of this season's most impressive voices, Svetla Vassileva as the doomed Leonora..." - Daily Telegraph
