Sarah Prestwidge

Sarah Prestwidge is an award-winning Aboriginal Australian soprano, known for her sparkling coloratura and compelling storytelling. In early 2025 she performed First Lady and Papagena in The Magic Flute with Charles Court Opera. In 2024, she performed the title role in Parrwang Lifts the Sky and Yvette/Lisette (cover) in La Rondine with Victorian Opera, reprised Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro in London and was awarded the Emerging Artist Award at the First Nations Arts and Culture Awards and the Brian Boak Supporting Award.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music (Education) from the Sydney Conservatorium and a Master of Music (Opera) from the Royal Northern College of Music, supported by a prestigious ABRSM full scholarship. Other awards include, the Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship, Tait Memorial Trust Awards, and the Lady Galleghan London Award from the Opera Foundation for Young Australians. She was also selected for the National Opera Studio London’s Diverse Voices Programme in 2023–24.
Her operatic highlights include Jude/Roshanna (Cover) in Itch (Opera Holland Park World Premiere), Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Mrs. Paskova/Chocholka in The Cunning Little Vixen, Controller in Flight, The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Zerbinetta in Ariadne Auf Naxos (Prologue), Arsena in The Gypsy Baron, and Madam Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor. She also performed Mrs. Anderssen/Nordstrom in A Little Night Music at Buxton International Opera Festival, where she was a Young Artist in 2021.
A sought-after soloist, Sarah has appeared in major orchestral works like Orff’s Carmina Burana and Cheetham Fraillon’s Eumeralla. Other notable work includes performing the national anthems at London’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service with the Duchess of Edinburgh in attendance and being invited by King Charles III to the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace for her services to the arts.
Beyond the stage, Sarah is a dedicated music educator committed to delivering accessible, high-quality music education to regional, remote, and First Nations communities, proudly representing her Darug heritage.
