Jennifer Bonner

Jennifer Bonner is a Sydney-born soprano. She studied opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has a masters in voice pedagogy. During her studies Jennifer was nominated for the Joan Carden award and was finalist in the Opera & Arts Opera Award at the Sydney Eisteddfod and finalist for the 2MBS Young Performer Award. She was a soloist in Peer Gynt with the SSO and then travelled to Germany to continue her professional development.

Engagements in Germany include performing the part of Perkins II in an operetta by Marc Blitzstein called Triple Sec: Die Sünde des Lord Silverside, a double-bill with George Gershwin’s Blue Monday (Komische Oper/Konzerthaus Berlin). In Germany, Jennifer performed opera and operetta recitals with the Brandenburg Concert Orchestra, and performed Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Festspiel Oper Prag, a touring production through several regions in the North and West of Germany.

During her time at Opera Australia, Jennifer has performed the roles of Gretel, Sandman, Mother and Witch for Oz Opera Schools’ production of Hansel and Gretel and and she joined the company as a full-time chorus member in 2015. Other roles for Opera Australia include the Page (Rigoletto); Bridesmaid (Le Nozze di Figaro), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly); Soloist (Chorus!).

Cover roles for the company include Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto); Annina (La Traviata) Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Fijian Tourist (Whiteley) Anna Schwarz, (Whiteley), Shepherd (Tannhäuser).

Other roles include Anna Reich, (Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor); Melisse and Une Bergérè (Armide); Asteria (Tamerlano); Serpetta (La Finta Giardiniera), Lucy (The Telephone), Flora (The Turn of the Screw), Suor Osmina (Suor Angelica),  Anne Truelove, Scenes from The Rake’s Progress (Germany); Pamina Die Zauberflöte (Germany). Concert engagements include The Fairy Queen, St Nicholas Mass, Haydn, Mass in C, Dvořák, Diana in Il Ratto di Proserpina, Scarlatti. Mozart’s Mass in C minor.
