Amanda Chen

Violin

Amanda started playing the violin at the age of seven in group lessons with her friends. She went on to study with Roger Hua and Professor Peter Zhang before becoming a student of Associate Professor Alice Waten, her primary musical mentor for many years. She attained scholarships to complete her Bachelor of Music in 2019 and Master of Music Studies in 2021 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Amanda has been a Fellow and contract musician of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, served in the first violin section of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and toured with the ACO Collective. She has received invaluable masterclasses from renowned soloists Maxim Vengerov, Hilary Hahn and Augustin Hadelich and appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Adelaide, Canberra, and Sydney. Amanda has also been a prize-winner at the Gisborne International Music Competition in New Zealand.
