Jessica Cottis
Award-winning conductor Jessica Cottis works with leading orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Oslo Philharmonic, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Danish Opera, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Opéra National de Bordeaux, Sydney Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and has enjoyed numerous re-invitations to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and BBC Proms.
One of the most outstanding Australian conductors working today, Cottis is Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, with whom she has pioneered several initiatives, including significant commissions and the championing of Australian works, and Artistic Partner of Västerås Sinfonietta in Sweden. She is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, and Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the School of Music, Australian National University.
Described as a “cool, contained, super-articulate and engaging” (The Scotsman), Cottis is a frequent contributor on BBC radio and television, commenting on various arts-related topics. She resides in London and outside of music pursues her passion for butterflies worldwide.
