Kiran Rajasingam

Australian-Sri Lankan baritone Kiran Rajasingam is a rising star of Australia’s opera, theatre and concert stages.
Kiran’s principal credits with Opera Australia include Councilman in Mizzy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves and Yamadori in Madama Butterfly. In 2025, Kiran will join the Opera Australia National Tour of La Bohème as Colline. Other notable engagements include Station Master (Eucalyptus), Herod (The Play of Herod), Mr Waa (Parrwang LiBs the Sky), The King (Cendrillon) and Mr Mayor (The Pied Piper) for Victorian Opera; Vodník (Rusalka) for ART ETC Collective; Tom (Australian premiere of Fat Pig) for Forest Collective. Kiran has a keen interest in new music, having originated roles in new operatic works by Deborah Cheetham Fraillon, Richard Mills, Gordon Kerry and Joseph Twist.
In 2023, Kiran won the 41st National Liederfest, Australia’s foremost Lieder competition. He is a passionate recitalist, regularly performing recitals and concerts around Australia. Kiran has performed bass and baritone solos in Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, Charles Stanford’s Songs of the Sea, Haydn’s Missa Sancti Nicolai, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Handel’s Messiah.
A graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Kiran was awarded several prizes and scholarships for excellence in music during his studies, including the Murray Ormond Vagg Scholarship, the Nellie Melba Prize, the Florence Bradford Scholarship, the Lady Turner Exhibition in Music, the Lady Turner Prize and the Muriel Cheek Memorial Scholarship.
