Maria Teresa Leva

Born in Reggio Calabria, graduated with honours from the Conservatory in her hometown. In 2014, she won the ‘Ottavio Ziino’ International Singing Competition in Rome and the same year she debuted the roles of Mimì in La bohème and Micaela in Carmen at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.

The roles of her repoertoire include Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly (Liceu de Barcelona, Valencia, Opera di Roma), Leonora in Il trovatore (Bari), Violetta in La traviata (Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liege, Genoa), Amelia in Un ballo in maschera (Deutsche Oper Berlin, Festival Verdi), Mimì in La bohème (Semperoper Dresden, Barcelona, Torino), Liù in Turandot (Arena di Verona), Micaela in Carmen (Verona), Margherita/Elena nel Mefistofele (Suntory Hall Tokyo), Manon Lescaut (Cagliari, Turin).

Recent highlights are Un ballo in maschera at Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Cavalleria rusticana (Santuzza) with Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Manon Lescaut at Teatro Regio Turin.
