Michael Güttler
Born in Dresden, Michael Güttler began his international career by conducting Parsifal at Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, then he became a guest conductor at many of the world’s leading theatres and orchestras, including Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Real de Madrid, Washington National Opera, New National Theatre in Tokyo, Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
Particularly noteworthy is his collaboration with the Vienna State Opera, where since the 2010 season he has been conducting an extremely wide repertoire, including Rigoletto, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Ariadne auf Naxos, La Cenerentola, Nabucco, Werther, Eugeni Onegin, Boris Godunov, Khovanshchina, Lohengrin, Don Giovanni.
Until 2017 he was Principal Conductor at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki.
Recent highlights include The Queen of Spades the Vienna State Opera at Tannhäuser at Müpa Budapest, Kàt’a Kabanovà at Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, the Wagner’s Ring and Lohengrin at May Festival in Wiesbaden, Salome at Teatro alla Scala.
