Russell Harcourt

Countertenor Russell Harcourt, a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Royal Academy of Music London, an Associate of the Jette Parker Young Artists’ Program, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Alumnus of the Britten–Pears Young Artist Program.
Russell’s recent and upcoming engagements include the title role in Gluck’s Orfeo (West Australian Opera), Messiah (Adelaide Symphony), Ruggiero: Alcina (National Opera Canberra), Micah: Samson, Haydn Nelson Mass (Sydney Philharmonia Choirs); performances with Bach Akademie Australia, Blackheath Chamber Music Festival, and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.
Russell made his operatic début as Oberon: A Midsummer Night’s Dream at WAAPA, and his Australian concert début at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. He has also featured as Nerone: Agrippina (Brisbane Baroque, Helpmann Award nomination as Best Male Performer in a Supporting Role in opera), vocal soloist with the Australian Ballet, and Messiah (New Zealand Symphony Orchestra).
Prizes include the Sir Robert Askin Opera Scholarship, Marten Bequest Scholarship and an Australia Council Grant.
