Sabina Myers

Costume Designer

Sabina Myers is an Australian costume and production designer currently based in Sydney.

Initially trained in Art History at The University of Queensland, and then in Design for Performance at NIDA, Sabina’s practice now includes work in film, music videos, live events, dance and opera – with an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and blending elements of cinematic and theatrical styles.

Sabina’s work for stage includes design credits for: Victorian Opera (Melbourne Cheremushki, at Arts Centre Melbourne, and Il Tabarro at The Australian National Maritime Museum), The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra (Inferno, at Casula Powerhouse), and Pinchgut Opera (Orontea, at Sydney City Recital Hall). Her work for Opera Australia began in 2019, first as an assistant to set designer Michael Scott-Mitchell for Madama Butterfly, and then as costume consultant for the revival of Elijah Moshisky’s Werther. In 2022 she was costume designer for the national touring production of The Barber of Seville (directed by Priscilla Jackman), and then in 2026 for Constantine Costi’s La Boheme.

Sabina was the recipient of the 2024 Thelma Afford Award for Costume Design, the co-recipient of a 2024 Green Room Award for ‘Melbourne Cheremushki’ (with set designer Dann Barber), a 2016 Australian Production Designers Guild Award for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, along with multiple nominations in the categories of Multi-disciplinary Design, Costume Design, and Concept Visualisation.

For film, Sabina has designed costumes for Gillian Roberts’ Australian-Japanese co-production Tanabata: The Evening of the Seventh, and Tanith Glynn-Maloney’s Finding Jedda (2022 AACTA Award for Best Short Film), and has worked in the costume departments of major film and tv productions both in Australia and internationally, including: Play Dirty (2025), The Fall Guy (2024), Three-Thousand Years of Longing (2022), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), and Picnic at Hanging Rock (2018).

Since 2019, Sabina has been a regular lecturer in school of design at NIDA. She is also a practicing artist and illustrator in both digital and traditional mediums, with a focus on textiles and figure drawing as an extension of her work as a costume designer.
