Etienne Dupuis


Born in Montreal, baritone Etienne Dupuis completed his vocal studies at McGill University and was a member of l'Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal.

Etienne made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Zurga in Les Pêcheurs de Perles and returned as Posa Don Carlo, Figaro Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Germont La Traviata, Marcello La bohème, Silvio Pagliacci and the title role in Eugene Onegin. He regularly sings at houses including Opernhaus Zurich, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opera de Montreal, Opera de Paris and Glyndebourne Festival.

Etienne's discography includes his solo disc Love Blows as the Wind Blows released on ATMA Classique, Honegger and Ibert L'Aiglon on Decca (cond. Kent Nagano), Thais duet with Sonya Yoncheva on her Paris, mon amour on Sony, Getty's Usher House with narration from actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Thérèse on Presto Classical with Alain Altinoglu and Opéra national Montpellier Orchestra and Choir.

Engagements this season and beyond include his debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Marcello, returns to the Opera de Paris for Belcore L’Elisir d’Amore and the title role in Don Giovanni, Germont and Valentin for the Opera de Marseille, Eugene Onegin for the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He will make his return to Montreal as Onegin. He will make further returns to New York (Albert), Paris (Posa) and Berlin (Don Carlo di Vargas).
