Greg Eldridge


Australian director Greg Eldridge studied acting and law in Melbourne before completing further study in Opera Directing in Florence, Italy. In 2013, he became the youngest director ever accepted into the prestigious Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden in London, where he is currently the Jette Parker Associate Director.

For the Royal Opera, Eldridge has directed productions of La scala di seta, The Lighthouse, Così fan tutte and La Favorite as well as scenes from Simon Boccanegra, Adriana Lecouvreur, Les pêcheurs de perles, Le Damnation de Faust and Roméo et Juliette. He has assisted on productions by directors including Sir David McVicar, Sir Richard Eyre, Christof Loy, Jonathan Kent, Francesca Zambello and Kasper Holten.

Outside of his work at The Royal Opera, Eldridge has worked for companies including Opera Holland Park, Lyric Opera Weimar, Thüringer Landestheater Rudolstadt, Kennet Opera, and Opera Up-Close as well as for Victorian Opera, Melbourne Opera and Lyric Opera of Melbourne in Australia.

Eldridge has previously worked on all four Ring Cycle operas for Longborough Festival Opera in the UK. The Melbourne Ring Cycle 2016 is Greg’s first engagement with Opera Australia.
