Lluc Castells

Costume Designer

Lluc Castells (Cardedeu, 1975) is closely bonded to theatre since his early childhood thanks to his family who were very involved in drama. In 1995 he finished his drawing studies and he dedicated himself to costume and set design for theatre, musical, circus, cinema, dance and opera performances. He usually collaborates with theatre stage directors and different companies.

With regard to opera, Lluc Castells executes works as Così fan tutte, Don Pasquale, Amhal and the Night Visitors, The Little Sweep, Brundibar and Anna Bolena (Liceu de Barcelona). He started collaborating as costume designer for Àlex Ollé of La Fura dels Baus with Le Grand Macabre (2009), at La Monnaie, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, ENO, Liceu de Barcelona, Adelaide Festival and Teatro Colón; Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (2010),directed by Àlex Ollé and Carlus Padrissa at Teatro Real de Madrid and Moscow Bolshoi; Quartett (2011) at Scala di Milano and Wiener Festwochen; and Oedipe at La Monnaie and Teatro Colón.
