When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets for The Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour go on sale to the general public on Tuesday 16 November 2021.
To secure your tickets before the general public, you can either purchase a season subscription package now, or purchase tickets during the Opera Australia pre-sale, commencing on 9 November 2021. To access the pre-sale, join our waitlist.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets start from $99 (plus booking fee) with a range of prices available. Ticket prices vary according to seat location and the performance time.
The Opera Australia pre-sale is an opportunity to secure tickets to The Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour before they go on sale to the general public. The pre-sale begins on Tuesday 9 November at 10am AEST and finishes on Monday 15 November at 11.59pm.
If you have signed up for our waitlist, you will receive an email the day prior to the pre-sale, with a link that will allow you to purchase tickets from 10am. When you click on this link, you may be placed in a virtual waiting room before you can purchase your tickets. This waiting room ensures that our website can cope with the demand for tickets and allows for fair access.
When it is your turn, you will have 30 minutes to begin purchasing tickets on our website. You may wish to enter your email on the virtual waiting room page to receive a notification when it's your turn (although please note: this email may end up in your spam folder).
We expect waiting times to be the longest on 9 November, decreasing in the days following. If you experience significant technical difficulties with the waiting room, you may wish to return to the website (via the pre-sale link we email to you) later during the pre-sale. We expect to have good seating availability across the pre-sale period.
How long will I be in the waiting room?
This will depend on both your position in the queue and the demand. We do expect demand to be quite high, and you may have to wait several hours until it is your turn. If you do not wish to spend time in the virtual waiting room, you can return later during the pre-sale period, when we expect waiting times to have decreased.
I already have tickets to see Phantom at the Sydney Opera House. Is this a different production?
Yes! We're presenting two different productions of The Phantom of the Opera in 2022: one production at the Sydney Opera House from August 2022, and the other on Sydney Harbour from March 2022.
Both are fully staged productions of The Phantom of the Opera, but will have unique direction, choreography and designs, overseen by two separate creative teams. They will both feature the story you know and love, Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic score performed by a large orchestra, and plenty of spectacle, but they will be quite different experiences; one under the stars and the other inside the beautiful Sydney Opera House.
Can I get tickets to Phantom at the Sydney Opera House instead?
There's quite limited availability for The Phantom of the Opera at the Sydney Opera House, which originally went on sale in March 2021. We will be putting the remaining seats on sale in late November.
To access tickets to this production, sign up to the waitlist.
Yes, you can buy a gift voucher from Opera Australia which recipients can use to purchase tickets to The Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour (subject to availability).
