The Opera Centre — Surry Hills Sydney
Have you ever wondered how the spectacular sets and magnificent costumes you see on stage are made?
Thank you for subscribing to Opera Australia in 2019.
We'd like to invite you behind-the-scenes, to see how the sets, costumes and props are made, and where rehearsals take place.
Staging an opera involves a thrilling combination of highly talented people from many disciplines – milliners, wig makers, cobblers, costumiers, designers, carpenters, model makers, scenic artists, choreographers, music and language coaches, stage hands, directors, musicians and conductors, not to mention the singers.
We invite you to take a free guided tour of The Opera Centre's vast production workshops to see first-hand how an opera is made. You might even get a peek at rehearsals in progress.
The tours will take place in the afternoon on Saturday 20 October, at The Opera Centre in Surry Hills and will be followed by a drink.
There is a limited number of tickets per tour, and bookings are essential. Book now to secure your tickets.
Please note that the tour requires a good level of fitness. It includes
many stairs and there are no passenger elevators. Tours run for 45-60 minutes.
