Our General Auditions are held regularly for singers to audition for our Casual Chorus list. Successful singers are then considered for work with the Opera Australia Chorus. Please note that these General Auditions are not suitable for Musical Theatre performers or anyone under the age of 18.

Expressions of Interest - Associate Principal Viola

Applications close: Monday 4 January 2027 5pm AEST
Eligibility: This position is open to applicants of all nationalities

How to Apply

To submit a complete expression of interest for the position, applicants must:

1. Complete the application form, including a current CV. Excerpts will be shared by email shortly after receiving your application.
2. Submit an audio-visual recording of the required concerto and orchestral excerpts by 4 January 2027. Submission instructions can be found on the last page of the information pack.

Recorded submission requirements

Interested players must prepare and submit one concerto and three orchestral excerpts

Choice of either - with piano accompaniment
1. Stamitz Concerto in D, Op.1 or Hoffmeister Concerto in D – exposition and development (no cadenza)

The following orchestral excerpts:
2. Coppelia solo
3. Lulu solo
4. Arabella solo

Audition date: Thursday 12 & Friday 13 November 2026. Applicants must be available from 10am – 4pm both days
Applications close: Wednesday 14 October 2026 5pm AEST
Recorded auditions due: Tuesday 10 November 2026 5pm AEST
Eligibility: This audition is open to Australian & New Zealand Citizens, and Australian Permanent Residents only
