Melbourne Studios

The Melbourne Opera Centre is located at 35–47 City Road, Southbank, near the Arts Centre Melbourne.

Hire charges:
(see room dimensions and capacities below)

  • Studio 1: $120/hour or $960/day
  • Studio 2: $95/hour or $760/day
  • Green Room: $75/hour or $600/day (access included with Studio hire)
  • Coaching Room & Multipurpose Room: $27.5/hour or $220/day (each)
  • Board Room (meetings): $27.5/hour or $220/day

*All listed charges include GST.

Additionally, a flat-rate fee of $100 will be charged per booking for required COVID-19 Venue Cleaning. A deposit of 10% of the total hire fee is payable to OA to confirm the hire booking.

Sydney Studios

The Sydney Opera Centre is located at 480 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills, near Central Station. Entry to the studios is via Clisdell Street, at the back of the building.

  • Philip Bacon Studio: $150/hour or $825/day

  • Coaching Rooms: $40/hour or $220/day (each)

  • On-site parking
  • Security Fees: office hours are Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. Any hire outside of these hours will incur a security/staffing fee:
    • Mon-Fri Before & After Hours: $40/hour
    • Saturday: $40/hour (minimum 4 hrs)
    • Sunday: $60/hour (minimum 4 hrs)
    • Public holiday: $80/hour (minimum 4 hrs)

Conditions of entry for external companies – COVID-19:

Prior to entry:

  • All company members must be fully vaccinated (minimum double dose).
  • Companies must confirm all members test negative (RAT) before entry on the day.
  • No-one must come onsite if experiencing symptoms or subject to self-isolation.

Upon arrival:

  • Company members must check-in & out, using the QR code available at the door.
  • Proof of full vaccination (digital vaccination certificate) must be checked for entry.
  • Company members must always wear a mask and physically distance in the common areas inside the building (when outside the studio).
  • Company members must not mix with other people onsite (Opera Australia staff and other hirers).
  • Company to exit immediately upon completion of the hire.

After departure

  • Companies must notify Opera Australia of any positive Covid tests within 48 hours after being on site.
  • Companies must assist with Opera Australia contact tracing process, as required.
