Alfonso Casado Trigo

Alfonso is an established freelance musical director and musical supervisor in the West End who is regularly invited by major orchestras in the UK and abroad.

As a freelance professional his work includes musical direction of music for film, television and games, (recent works include Jingle Jangle, Christmas Chronicles 2, Thunder Force, Halo, The Croods 2, Jurassic World: Dominion, Nightmare Alley…etc) musical theatre, symphonic, musical production… as well as composing for games, advertising and film.

Regular collaborations with BBCCO, ROSS, OBC, Bournemouth Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philarmonic, Halle Orchestra, Royal Northern Symphonia, London Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Orquesta de la Ópera del Liceo, … etc

Amongst his recent projects as freelance conductor, Alfonso has appeared in Old Friends (Sondheim Theatre, London) with Petula Clark, Bernadette Peters, Damian Lewis Dame Judi Dench… etc, Disney’s Fantasia live in Seville with the ROSS and My Fair Lady (The Grange Festival and Liceu Theatre in Barcelona)

He is currently the Musical Supervisor for many Cameron Mackintosh’s shows around the world as well as a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

As a composer, Alfonso has composed the music for the feature films Venus, and Héroes de Barrio, as well as jingles for Disney, Nickelodeon, advertising companies etc. His work in Film and TV includes the translation and direction of many Disney shows in Spanish (Tangled, Fancy Nancy, TOPS, Mira Royal Detective, Gigantosaurus, Phineas and Ferb, Spongbob Square pants… etc)

He started conducting professional shows at the age of 20 in Madrid, and since then he has conducted and supervised shows in Spain, United Kingdom, Japan, United Emirates, Germany, China, Brazil… etc.

Major credits in musical theatre include Les Misérables (MD/Supervisor, Spain, Brazil, Tokyo, London and Dubai), Miss Saigon (MD/Supervisor London and Tokyo), The Phantom of the Opera (MD/ Supervisor London and UK Tour), Mamma Mia! (Spain MD – International Asst. Musical Supervisor)

He conducted the 25th anniversary Gala of Miss Saigon (released on DVD worldwide), Les Misérables – The staged concert at the Gielgud Theatre in London (also released worldwide on video) and was co-supervisor for Les Misérables 30th Anniversary Gala.

He recorded an all Spanish classical music album with the BBCCO in January 2018 alongside soloists Juan Pérez and Magdalena Llamas and he conducted this orchestra again in August 2018 for “Friday night is music night”.

Awards include Best Musical director in Spain for Los Misérables and Best Musical director in the West End for Miss Saigon. (Broadway World Awards).
