Les Misérables is set to storm the Sydney Opera House!

Cameron Mackintosh’s celebrated fully-staged production will play in the Joan Sutherland Theatre from 27 August.

The 2027 Sydney season comes 40 years after Les Misérables first premiered in Australia in 1987, marking a new milestone in the musical’s enduring Australian history.

For more than four decades, Boublil and Schönberg’s musical sensation has captivated audiences around the globe. The magnificent score includes the songs ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, ‘On My Own’, ‘Bring Him Home’, ‘One Day More’, ‘Master of the House’ and many more. Seen by more than 150 million people worldwide in 57 countries, 455 cities and translated into 22 languages, Les Misérables is undisputedly one of the world’s most popular musicals.

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. This epic and uplifting story has become one of the most celebrated musicals in theatrical history.
