Andrew Finden

Andrew Finden has garnered praise for his “wonderfully flowing, warmly timbred baritone” (Der Opernfreund) and “expressively captivating” stage presence (OperaWire). His portrayal of the title role in Nixon in China at Theater Koblenz earned a critic’s nomination for Opernwelt magazine’s prestigious “Singer of the Year” category.

Recent highlights include performances as Antony in the German premiere of John Adams’ Antony and Cleopatra and Mac in the European premiere of Jake Heggie’s Before It All Goes Dark, both at Theater Koblenz.

Other notable performances include Oberthal in Le Prophète at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and Landestheater Linz; Marcello in La Bohème at Opera Holland Park; Oppenheimer in Doctor Atomic and Joseph de Rocher in Dead Man Walking at Theater Koblenz; Oronte in Médée at Pinchgut Opera; Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Forester in The Cunning Little Vixen, Ned Keene in Peter Grimes, Orestes in Iphigénie en Tauride, and Tadeusz in the German premiere of The Passenger at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe; Dr Falke in Die Fledermaus at Staatstheater Nürnberg; Marco in Gianni Schicchi at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Aalto-Theater Essen and Landestheater Neustrelitz; Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at Theater Aachen; Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor and Maik in the world premiere of Ludger Vollmer’s Tschick at Theater Hagen. On the concert platform, he has performed with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, and Badische Staatskapelle.

He is a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
