Bec Moret

Bec Moret made her directorial debut in 2022 with Le Nozze di Figaro followed in 2023 with Britten’s The Turn of the Screw for Sydney company The Cooperative. In 2024, she joined women-focused opera company Gente Gente to direct Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmelites, to be followed in 2026 with Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea and Ethel Smythe’s The Wreckers. With Opera Australia, she has assisted on Alex Ollé’s Madama Butterfly (Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour revival, 2023), Kate Gaul’s The Magic Flute (2024), and Sarah Giles’ Rusalka (2025). In 2026 Bec will assist on the revival of Elijah Mojinsky’s Hansel and Gretel and act as revival director for Opera Australia’s Greatest Opera Hits.

As part of filmmaking trio MMGG, Bec’s first feature film, Playing the Game, premiered on the TF1 network in France in 2024. Currently, the trio are writing a horror feature for Pure Imagination Studios based on existing franchise characters, as well as developing original screen projects for companies in Australia, the US and the Netherlands.

A music graduate of the University of Melbourne and the Sydney Conservatorium opera school, Bec originally trained as a singer, singing with both the Opera Australia schools company and with the Opera Australia chorus.
