Benjamin Rasheed

Benjamin was born in Australia and studied at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and the Australian Opera Studio. He is a former member of State Opera of South Australia’s Young Artist Program. 

His roles for Opera Australia include the Emperor: Njegus (Merry Widow), Don Basilio (Marriage of Figaro), L’Incredibile (Andrea Chenier), Pang (Turandot), Spoletta (Tosca), Monostatos (Magic Flute), Borsa (Rigoletto), Remendado (Carmen), Normanno (Lucia di Lammermoor), and Jamie/Freddy Eynsford-Hill (My Fair Lady). 

Roles for other companies include Ferrando: Così fan tutte, Tamino/Monostatos: The Magic Flute, Beppe: Pagliacci, Flute: Midsummer Night’s Dream; Der Ring, Paris: Roméo et Juliette(SOSA); The Conservationist: Undertow (Finnish National Opera/Adelaide Festival of Arts); Soloist: St John’s, Smith Square, London (English Chamber Orchestra); Quint: Turn of the Screw, Oronte: Alcina, Tito: La clemenza di Tito (AOS); Cinderella’s Prince: Into The Woods, Harry the Horse: Guys and Dolls (Adelaide Festival Centre/Adelaide Symphony Orchestra); Maltby and Shire’s world première of Take Flight; I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!
