Billy Bourchier

Billy developed his passion for theatre at a young age, performing in several productions in the ACT where he garnered local theatre awards for his efforts. Moving to Brisbane he studied at the Queensland Conservatorium, graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor in Music Theatre.  That same year Billy won the Queensland Performing Arts Competition.

On his graduation day, Billy made his professional debut performing with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in QPAC’s Spirit of Christmas alongside some of the country’s finest theatre artists. In 2015, Billy played Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance to a sold out season at QPAC and was named in the top 10 most promising actors by Star Central Magazine. Later that year, Billy was cast in Opera Queensland’s production of Candide and as a solo performer for QSO’s Centenary of the Anzacs concert.

In 2016, Billy was cast as the first Marius cover in the Australian production of Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Misérables and was later selected to tour in the international cast of Les Misérables in the same role.

From 2017, Billy joined the company of The Book of Mormon as the Elder McKinley cover and toured throughout Australia and New Zealand with the production, totalling over 750 performances before covid struck. In early 2020, Billy developed and performed his own cabaret The Corner of Brisbane & Broadway showcasing some of the best local talent Brisbane has to offer. In 2022, Billy was cast as the standby Jamie in La Boite’s production of The Last 5 Years.

In 2023, Billy returned to the stage in the Australian tour of Miss Saigon covering the roles of Chris and Shultz. This was his first opportunity to work with Opera Australia and Billy is thrilled to be returning to the company in 2024 as Tony in West Side Story.
