Christian Haotian Qi
Baritone
Christian Qi is a Chinese-born baritone and Principal Artist with Opera Australia. He completed his Master of Opera Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and was a member of Opera Australia’s Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program.
He has appeared in a wide range of productions with Opera Australia, including Escamillo in Carmen, Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Marcello in La Bohème, and performances in the company’s acclaimed Great Opera Hits concert series at the Sydney Opera House. His repertoire also includes the title role in Don Giovanni, Giove in La Calisto, Speaker in Die Zauberflöte, and Presto in Les mamelles de Tirésias.
In addition to his operatic work, Christian has appeared in concert performances and gala productions throughout Australia and Asia. Praised for the warmth of his lyric baritone and his refined stage presence, he is recognised for interpretations that combine musical sensitivity with dramatic depth.
