Cian Malikides

Cian Malikides studied in Sydney with Nigel Crocker, who imparted a great love of music onto him. While at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Cian travelled to Verona, Italy to attend the Estivo Summer Chamber Music school, the US for the Aspen Music Festival, and Sweden for the Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy. In 2018 he was awarded the brass prize at the Gisborne International Music Competition and was accepted to the Australian National Academy of Music to commence study with Scott Kinmont and Michael Mulcahy. While at ANAM, Cian was awarded the Volunteers Prize to an outstanding ANAM citizen. Cian has performed as guest principal trombone with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. He is a casual musician with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. In 2025 Cian took up the bass trombone and is a casual player with the Melbourne Symphony, Orchestra Victoria and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
