The American bass-baritone, Greer Grimsley is recognized internationally as an outstanding dramatic artist. He has established a remarkable international career, performing regularly on the world's most prestigious concert stages and opera houses including Metropolitan, San Diego Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, San Francisco Opera, Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Baltimore Opera, Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Opéra de Nancy, Grand Theatre de Genève, Opéra de Montréal, Royal Danish Opera, Scottish Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid, Bregenz Festival, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and Teatro Comunale di Bologna.



As a Wagner specialist, he has performed such titles as Der Fliegende Holländer (Holländer), Lohengrin (Telramund), Der Ring des Nibelungen (Wotan), Tristan und Isolde (Kurwenal), Parsifal (Amphortas).



His repertory also include Elektra (Orest), Salomé (Jochanaan), Arabella (Mandryka), Peter Grimes (Balstrode), Samson et Dalila (Grand Prêtre), Fidelio (Don Pizarro), Carmen (Escamillo), Faust (Méphistophélès), Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Villains), Don Giovanni (title role), Macbeth (title role), Aida (Amonasro), Tosca (Scarpia), La fanciulla del West (Jack Rance), and Bluebeard’s Castle (Bluebeard).



He worked with such conductors as Andreas Delfs, Daniele Gatti, James Levine, Kurt Mazur, Zubin Mehta, Hans Vonk.



Prior career highlights for Greer Grimsley include Der Fliegende Holländer at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opéra de Nancy at Minnesota Opera and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna under Daniele Gatti’s baton, Lohengrin at the San Diego Opera, Royal Danish Opera and at the Seattle Opera, Das Rheingold at the Opera de Montréal, Tosca at the San Francisco Opera and at the Houston Grand Opera, Salomé with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta and at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Samson et Dalila at the Houston Grand Opera, Fidelio at the San Diego Opera, Faust at the Seattle Opera, Don Giovanni at the Opera Carolina and at the Baltimore Opera, Tristan und Isolde at the Royal Danish Opera, Les contes d’Hoffmann at the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, La fanciulla del West at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Bluebeard’s Castle with at the Opéra de Montreal, Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Seattle Opera. Recently he performed Samson et Dalila and Tosca at the San Diego Opera, Billy Budd at the Pittsburgh Lyric Opera, Siegfried at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and Der Fliegende Holländer at the Seattle Opera.



At the Metropolitan he performed in many productions including Tristan und Isolde, Carmen and Peter Grimes.



He sang several times the role of Escamillo in Carmen in such venues as Baltimore Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Opera Company in Philadelphia, Scottish Opera, Vancouver Opera, Grand Theatre de Genève and Bregenz Festival.



He opened the 2014/15 season performing as Don Pizarro in Fidelio at Santa Fé Opera, followed by Salome (Jochanaan) at Dallas Opera, Tosca (Scarpia) at Seattle Opera, Siegfried at Liceu de Barcelona and Samson et Dalila at Atlanta Opera.



Among his future plans are Der Fliegende Holländer at Ravinia Festival and at Seattle Opera, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at San Francisco Opera, Tosca at San Diego Opera, Salome, Die Walkure and Siegfried at New National Theatre in Tokyo, Fidelio at New York MET, Elektra at Houston Grand Opera, Peter Grimes in Montecarlo, Der Fliegende Holländer at Dallas Opera.
