Aussie mezzo-soprano Indyana Schneider studied a BA in Music at Magdalen College, Oxford University, before moving to Vienna to join the Wiener Staatsoper Akademie in 2019. During the pandemic, she completed an MA Oper with High Distinction at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover. Earlier this season, Indyana sang the title role in Carmen with Kent Chamber Opera, Mercedes in Carmen at the Theater für Niedersachsen, and Meg Page in HMTM’s Falstaff. For her recent performance playing Zita in Gianni Schicchi with the Liverpool Philharmonic alongside Sir Bryn Terfel, she was hailed by critics as ‘outstanding’ (Guardian), ‘superb’ (Northwestend), and ‘striking’ (Bachtrack). This summer, Indyana is covering the Komponist in Garsington Opera’s Ariadne auf Naxos, before joining the Zürich International Opera Studio, where she will sing Femme Grecque in Iphigénie en Tauride and Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She is thrilled to be making her solo debut back home at the Sydney Opera house in 2024.
