Klaus Grünberg
Set Designer
Born in Hamburg, he studied stage design with Erich Wonder and has worked as a freelance set and lighting designer for opera and theatre in Europe, Buenos Aires and Kuwait. His opera and theatre work in Europe includes productions for Zürich Opera House, Komische Oper Berlin, Frankfurt Schauspiel and Théâtre de Vidy Lausanne. He regularly works with the composer and director Heiner Goebbels, and with directors Tatjana Gürbaca and Barrie Kosky. Recent projects with Goebbels include John Cage’s Europeras 1 & 2 and Louis Andriessen’s De Materie at the Ruhrtriennale Festival. Recent work with Gürbaca includes Werther (Zürich Opera). His productions with Kosky include Pelléas et Mélisande, Rusalka, Moses und Aron, Ball im Savoy and Kiss Me, Kate (Komische Oper Berlin), Tristan und Isolde (Essen), The Nose (Royal Opera) and Macbeth (Zürich). In 1999 he opened MOMOLMA (Museum of More or Less Modern Art).
