Natalie Wong

Natalie Wong was appointed Principal Harp of the Opera Australia Orchestra in 2025, having appeared regularly as a guest since 2012. She has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles in Australia and abroad, including the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera Lab Berlin, and served as Acting Principal Harp with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 2023 to 2024.

Born in Sydney, Natalie began her harp studies with Hazel Hu. She completed a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Louise Johnson and Jane Rosenson. She then earned a Master of Music (Harp) from the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin, where she studied with Professor Maria Graf. While in Europe, she also undertook summer academies with leading harpists including Marie-Pierre Langlamet.

Alongside her performance career, Natalie teaches harp and has written for solo harp and chamber ensemble. Her compositions have been performed in Australia, Germany and the United States, and she was a finalist in the USA International Harp Competition Composition Contest.
