Nick Smith
Nick is a graduate of the Queensland Academy of Excellence in Musical Theatre. Recently he played the role of Danny in the world premiere of The Drover’s Wife-The Opera at QPAC.
During his studies, Nick’s performance credits include Emmett Forrest in Legally Blonde (dir. Alister Smith), Bobby Strong in Urinetown (dir. Penny Farrow), Captain MacHeath in The Threepenny Opera (dir. Penny Farrow), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (dir. Jason Klarwein), Cry Baby and 42nd Street. Nick was the inaugural recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Rekindle Foundation to aid his future professional development.
Since graduating, Nick was a guest soloist in QPAC’s 2024 Spirit of Christmas concerts, performed in the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Symphonic Santa, was a featured performer at the Brisbane City Hall and Star Casino with Epiphany Productions, and recently appeared in Romeo and Juliet for The Australian Ballet.
Nick also played the lead role of Luca in the short film Not One of Us. In 2025, he was a finalist in the Home Grown Emerging Artist Awards.
Nick is thrilled to be reprising the role of Danny for the Sydney season of The Drover’s Wife at the Sydney Opera House.
