Nikolas Nägele

Born in 1987 in Radolfzell am Bodensee (Germany), Nikolas Maximilian Nägele graduated in conducting, piano and clarinet from the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and Leipzig and he was a prize winner of James Conlon Conducting Prize in 2012 and of Aspen Festival Conducting Prize in 2013.

From 2017 to 2020 he has been Kapellmeister at Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he conducted Carmen, Die Zauberflöte, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Die Fledermaus, La Traviata and Un ballo in maschera.

In 2020 he had his company debuts with L’elisir d’amore at Opera House Zürich and with Il matrimonio segreto at Teatro Regio in Turin, where ha has been back in 2022 for Salieri’s La scuola de’ gelosi.

In Summer 2019 he conducted Il viaggio a Reims at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and he has been invited back regularly.

Recent highlights include Die Fledermaus at Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, L’italiana in Algeri at Noorlands Operan, La cenerentola at Olympia Theatre Athens, Peer Gynt at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
