Pamela Rabe

Pamela Rabe is one of Australia’s most highly regarded and awarded actors, most recently receiving the 2015 AACTA Award for Best Lead Actress in Drama for her role as Joan Ferguson in Wentworth series 3.



She won the 1997 AFI Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for the film The Well and also appeared in the films CosiSirens and Paradise Road. Her work in television includes The Secret Life of Us, Mercury, The Bite and Stingers, and for the past several decades she has worked constantly in theatre across the country and around the world. For her role in Grey Gardens she won the 2012 Helpmann Award for Best Female Actor in a Musical and other notable credits include The Glass Menagerie, The Cherry Orchard, The Wizard of OzThe War of the RosesLes Liaisons DangereusesHamletThe Season at SarsaparillaMother Courage and Her Children and Barry Kosky’s The Lost Echo. Pamela has also directed plays for the Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company and the Malthouse Theatre. Pamela recently completed Footfalls with the State Theatre Company of South Australia and MONA’s MOFO Festival. In 2015 she won a Helpmann Award for Best Female Actor in a Play for The Glass Menagerie, a role which she then reprised in 2016 for a tour with Belvoir Theatre and Malthouse.
