One of the most talented young Italian conductors, Pietro Rizzo is a frequent guest conductor of some among the world’s great opera houses including the New York Metropolitan, Dallas Opera, New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, New National Theatre of Tokyo, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Finnish National Opera of Helsinki, Royal Swedish Opera of Stockholm, Volksoper in Wien, Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Savonlinna Festival and Baden-Baden Festival, just to name a few.
He was Chief Conductor of Göteborg Opera (2006/09), Music Director of Orquesta Joven de la Sinfónica de Galicia of La Coruna (2010/14) and Erste Kapellmeister at Aalto Theater of Essen (2003/07).
He also a frequent guest conductor on the podium of Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Belgium Radio Symphony Orchestra, Essener Philharmoniker, Bergische Symphoniker, WDR Rundfunkorchester, Aalborg Symfoniorkester and Orchestra of Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
His recent engagements have included productions of Rigoletto and Don Carlo at New National Theatre in Tokyo, La Cenerentola at Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, La traviata at Bayerische Staatsoper in in München, La Gioconda at Stadttheater St Gallen, Lucrezia Borgia at Staatsoper in Hamburg and Roberto Devereux at Deutsche Oper Berlin.
He opened the 2015/16 season conducting the Beauty and the Beast ballet at Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, followed by Macbeth at Stadttheater St Gallen and in Bogota, La Favorite at Deutsche Oper in Berlin and Madama Butterfly at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He also made his debut on the podium of Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI di Torino.
Among his future plans are productions of La traviata at Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi, Rigoletto at Finnish National Opera in Helsinki and Norma at Opera de Bilbao. He will also be heard in on the podium of Orchestra of Theater St. Gallen, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest of Amsterdam and Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI di Torino.
