Vitaliy Bilyy

Ukrainian baritone Vitaliy Bilyy has performed at some of the most prestigious opera houses in the world, including the Opéra National de Paris, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Wiener Staatsoper, Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Staatsoper Hamburg and San Francisco Opera. In the current season, Bilyy sings Germont in La Traviata at the Opéra National de Paris and Opera Australia, Amonasro in Aida at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago in Chile, and the title role in Macbeth at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse.
In the 2016/17 season, Bilyy mades his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Il Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore, returned to the Semperoper Dresden as Germont, and sand Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana at the Opéra National de Paris, Don Carlo in Ernani and Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, and Escamillo in Carmen at the Bayerische Staatsoper and Staatsoper Hamburg. He also returned to the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples as Il Conte di Luna. Bilyy’s engagements for the 2015/16 season included Miller in Luisa Miller at the San Francisco Opera, Il Conte di Luna at the Metropolitan Opera and Opéra National de Paris, Germont at the Staatsoper Hamburg and Semperoper Dresden, Escamillo at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and Amonasro at the Opéra National de Paris. In the 2014/15 season, he sang Renato in Un ballo in maschera with Opera Toulouse, Paolo in Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro alla Scala, Germont at the Wiener Staatsoper, Il Conte di Luna at the Bayerische Staatsoper, and Miller at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and San Francisco Opera.
In the 2013/14 season, Bilyy sang Il Conte di Luna at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago and Bayerische Staatsoper, Germont at the Bolshoi and Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Alfio at the Teatro alla Scala, Vincenzo Gellner in La Wally at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, and Renato in Toulouse. Other recent engagements from the 2012/13 season included Ezio in Attila at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Escamillo at the Bayerische Staatsoper, and his debut as the title role in Macbeth at La Scala. In the 2011/12 season, Bilyy also sang Miller at La Scala and Il Count di Luna in both Venice and Toulouse. In recent years, Bilyy has performed many roles at the Metropolitan Opera, including Il Count di Luna, Rodrigo in Don Carlos, Germont, and Shaklovity in Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina.
Bilyy is a graduate of the Vocal Department of the Odessa Conservatory and has won many International Competitions, such as the Plácido Domingo Operalia Competition, Elena Obraztsova Competition in St. Petersburg, Francisco Vinas International Singing Contest in Barcelona, and Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition in Andorra.
