Amanda Murphy

Tutti Viola

Amanda Murphy holds the position of Tutti Viola in the Opera Australia Orchestra. Amanda Murphy began her musical studies with Joy Lee at ten years of age on the violin, but soon changed to viola, preferring its sound. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium High School and Conservatorium of Music with Winifred Durie.

Amanda joined the Australian Chamber Orchestra as a core member after finishing her tertiary studies, before joining the Opera Australia Orchestra in 2001. She has played with the Sydney Opera House Orchestra, Brandenburg Orchestra and Australia Ensemble.
