David Whitney

David is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art. He is delighted to return to Phantom, having played Monsieur André in Melbourne (1992) and Sydney (1996). David has appeared for Opera Australia as Baron Zeta in The Merry Widow, Doc in West Side Story (Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour) and as Zoltan Karparthy in My Fair Lady directed by Dame Julie Andrews.

Other music theatre includes: An American in Paris, Funny Girl in Concert, Fiddler on the Roof, Rock of Ages, Damn Yankees!, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Man of La Mancha, Sunset Boulevard, They’re Playing Our Song, The Producers, Cabaret, A Chorus Line, The Wizard of Oz, Chess and Little Shop of Horrors.

David’s extensive theatre credits include: The Wharf Revue, Saint Joan, Cyrano de Bergerac, Mrs Warren’s Profession, Much Ado About Nothing, Summer Rain, Darlinghurst Nights, Woman in Mind (STC); Luna Gale, Relatively Speaking (Ensemble); Dracula, 1984 (Shake and Stir); Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Henry IV, The Duchess of Malfi, The Alchemist, Macbeth, As You Like It, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet (Bell Shakespeare); The Power of Yes (Belvoir) and Cho Cho (National Theatre of China).

TV appearances include: A Place to Call Home, Love Child, Wonderland, Fatal Honeymoon, Home and Away and McLeod’s Daughters.
