Liesel Badorrek


Liesel has 20 years of experience in creating and performing in a range of theatre works primarily for young audiences and families. She toured Australia extensively in schools performances with Queensland company Grin and Tonic for several years, then in 1997 co- founded Strut & Fret Productions. After leaving Strut and Fret she formed Loose Canon Arts in 1999 and has since toured annually throughout Asia and the Middle East with performances for young audiences.

She created and performed in the company’s production of Monkeyshines which was commissioned by the Sydney Opera House in 2008. Darlingwood Tales, which she wrote and in which she performed in 2009, was also a Sydney Opera House commission.

With Loose Canon she has created work for the Sydney Festival, Carriageworks Children’s Festival, Singapore Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival and Casula Powerhouse's WOW Festival.

She has also created original performance works for family audiences for City of Sydney events and festivals over the last 10 years.

Liesel was Associate Director on The Thirteen Storey Treehouse for CDP and director of both The Twenty-Six Storey Treehouse and The Fifty-Two Storey Treehouse.

She wrote and directed Trash Alchemy which Loose Canon Arts presented at Casula's WOW Festival and which is slated for an Opera House season in 2017. Also in 2017 Liesel will direct Horrible Harriet for CDP and will continue her role as the Australia and New Zealand Associate for CDP on touring works, The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child and Room on the Broom.

Liesel also creates comedy for adults in her work as a cabaret artist, comedian and MC.
