While the foyer offers a good view of the fireworks, space outside on the balcony will be limited.

If you don’t have tickets to the Midnight Party, there are a limited number of outdoor viewing areas you’ll be able to access following the performance. Please note that these spaces are limited and cannot be guaranteed.

Some fireworks can be viewed from the Southern Foyers inside Sydney Opera House at midnight, but you may not have a view of Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Dress up to the nines, kick up your heels and leave the crowds behind as you stroll towards the iconic sails.

Enjoy a few drinks overlooking the magnificent Sydney Harbour before you take your seats for our new New Year’s Eve gala.

The Opera Gala is a night you’ll never forget – expect some of the most beautiful music ever written, big laughs and a few surprises along the way.

Comedy legend Adam Hills and cabaret and opera star Ali McGregor are your hosts for this distinctively Australian night at the opera. They’re joined by an all-star cast of Opera Australia singers, performing highlights from our season with a 64-piece orchestra. There’ll be tunes you know and love, and maybe a few new discoveries.

There’s nowhere in the world like Sydney on New Year’s Eve, and there’s nowhere closer to the action than the Sydney Opera House.

So go on, make this your most glamorous New Year ever.

Hosts

Adam Hills

A five-time Gold Logie nominee, Adam Hills is one of Australia’s most beloved comedians. He is best known in Australia for hosting ABC TV’s Spicks and Specks and Adam Hills Tonight. He’s known across the world for his critically acclaimed stand-up shows, and The Last Leg, his talk show on the UK’s Channel Four.

Ali McGregor

Ali McGregor is a singer and producer, who started her career as a principal soprano with Opera Australia. She is now an award-winning cabaret performer who has appeared everywhere from Glastonbury to Carnegie Hall. She has also formed her own company, FLUXUS, to support the development of new Australian operas.
