Artistic Director’s Circle Syndicate

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to join the Artistic Director’s Circle and to accompany me as I navigate my inaugural season at Opera Australia.

It is a great honour to lead the national opera company and I would be immensely grateful to have the support of fellow travellers alongside me on this magnificent journey.

I want to find new ways to deliver the core repertoire and to look at contemporary, Australian ways of telling stories; to explore compelling collaborations that stretch and challenge us as a company towards new ways of working and seeing.

Alongside our own accomplished singers, I want Opera Australia to nurture and explore new Australian talent that will reap dividends for the company both now and in 20 years from now. I’m also keen to welcome back Australian singers from the wider diaspora who audiences may not have had an opportunity to hear at the Sydney Opera House, even though they’re becoming widely acclaimed on the international stage. I want those singers to feel that Opera Australia is their home too.

As I begin this journey of discovery with OA, I invite you to join me with some special events and opportunities to investigate different creative corners of the company, knowing that your support will be helping us to build towards an opera company for a 21st century that blends the best of Australian talent with the best from the rest of the world.
