From grand opera to touring musicals, concert stagings to media launches. We’re also capable of non-agricultural quarantine clearance for international imports.

Wardrobe Department

Rebecca Ritchie

With over 20 qualified costume technicians at your disposal, we can assist you in the following:

  • Consulting
  • Budgeting
  • Measurements
  • Assistance with design and advice on fabric choice and construction methods
  • Source and purchase materials, accessories, footwear, headwear, armour and more
  • Cut and construct period and modern costumes for theatre, dance and opera from design to realisation
  • Bespoke, fully tailored men’s and women’s suits
  • Construction of body paddings, fat suits and pregnancy paddings
  • Construction of period foundation garments, corsets, panniers, crinolines etc
  • Specialised men’s and women’s period headwear
  • Refitting of existing productions or individual costumes
  • Specialist in-house art finishing of costumes and accessories
  • Fabric and piece dyeing
  • Jewellery construction, alterations and maintenance
  • Leatherwork, armour alterations, fabric printing and art finishing
  • Laser cutting and engraving of leather, paper, fabric, acrylic, metal
  • Three fully equipped fitting rooms complete with mirrors, stage lighting and fitting equipment

Wigs Department

Our team of qualified wig technicians specialise in:

  • Custom made wigs with mold and measurements of the performer’s head
  • Hand sewn foundations for wigs and toupees
  • Hand-knotted wigs and toupees to the measurements of the performers head (with human, yak and synthetic hair)
  • Hand-knotted facial hair: beard, moustaches, sideburns, eyebrows
  • Facial hair dressing with hot tongs
  • Hand-knotted body hair: chest hair, arms etc.
  • Cutting, coloring, setting and styling of wigs and own hair.
  • Custom blend hair-colors
  • Dressing wigs and own hair into period and contemporary hairstyles including setting with rollers, dowel and/or wet sets
  • Weaving for custom made hairpieces, switches, extensions, ladders
  • Make-up and wig dressing and application for publicity photo shoots
  • Creating bald caps to various sizes

Scenic Art Department

Our team specialises in traditional scenic art: Trompe l'oeil, figurative and abstract styles, as well as painted effects such as marbling, woodgrain and spatter. We also undertake relief foam sculpture, cloth netting and gold leafing.  

Our team is extremely experienced and regularly create the following:

Steel Fabrication Department

Our Steel Fabrication department is a team of highly experienced artisans who have the capacity for:

  • General fabrication of light and medium steel
  • General fabrication of aluminium
  • General fabrication of stainless steel
  • Plate rolling up to 3mm thickness and 900mm wide
  • RHS and pipe rolling
  • Pneumatic castor installation
  • Handrails and balustrades

Design Studio

Our Design Studio team has over 15 years of collective experience in producing state-of-the-art architectural and construction drawings.

We’re known for our skills in key areas — time, quality, cost and above all, customer satisfaction. Professional and qualified, with exceptional visualisation skills, we provide expert design services for the many operas, musicals and touring operas that we produce in theatres and outdoor venues in Australia and across the world.

From start to finish:

  • We consult with technical directors, production managers, designers, crew and manufacturing departments using our technical design skills to bring your vision into reality. 
  • We create a precise suite of technical drawings, from concept to manufacturing and completion of the entire drawing package.
  • We provide detailed technical construction drawings, 3D format for visualisation and 2D format for construction.   
  • We produce drawings on a scene-by-scene basis, broken down into plans, section details and elevations for precision.
  • We design site layouts for outdoor venues and sites, bespoke spaces and theatres.
  • We ensure our drawings are done with adherence to relevant WHS standards.

Equipment and software we use include:

  • AutoCAD: drawing
  • Rhino: drawing  
  • Adobe Illustrator: to create stencils, fonts and logos
  • Vinyl Cutter: using this equipment in conjunction with Adobe Illustrator produces accurate and affordable representations of design
  • Adobe Photoshop: to edit graphic designs to enhance and manipulate images
  • High-resolution printer: prints up to 1066mm wide and up to any length,  Produces 1:1 templates and graphic designs
