Edward Dick read English at Oxford University then trained as a director with theatre company Cheek by Jowl.

His work in opera includes Tosca (TMA nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Opera), Carmen and Hansel and Gretel (Opera North); the world premiere of Tarik O’Regan’s Heart of Darkness (Royal Opera House – South Bank Show award nomination); the UK premiere of Rossini’s Maometto Secondo (Garsington Opera); Ein Maskenball (Volkstheater Rostock); La Voix Humaine (Cheltenham Festival); The Rape of Lucretia (Aldeburgh) and The Turn of the Screw (King’s Head).

Theatre directing credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Sydney Theatre Company);  The Pitchfork Disney (Arcola);The Fastest Clock in the Universe (Hampstead Theatre); Our Country’s Good (Liverpool Playhouse); Gaslight (Salisbury Playhouse); Fewer Emergencies (National Theatre, Prague); Twelfth Night (Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park); Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare’s Globe) and ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore (Southwark Playhouse).

Film and television projects include An Act of Love (BBC Films); That Woman (UKJF); Holby City, EastEnders; Silent Witness(BBC).
