Eugene Lynch
Eugene Lynch is a director of theatre and opera.
Most recently, Eugene directed Georg Kaiser’s From Morning to Midnight (The Other Theatre), Beckett’s Not I.
Eugene is currently a 2024 Young Artist with Opera Queensland.
Upcoming engagements include The Pigeons (The Other Theatre / KXT on Broadway). Eugene is also currently developing a project for Pinchgut Opera. Eugene is currently developing a new opera work, The Hairy Ape (supported by Create NSW & Creative Australia).
Eugene’s Opera Assistant and Associate Director credits include: Platée (Pinchgut Opera, dir. Neil Armfield); The Golden Cockerel (Adelaide Festival, die. Barrie Kosky); Turn of the Screw and Richard Meale’s Voss (State Opera of South Australia, dir. Stuart Maunder); Lucia di Lammermoor (Opera Queensland, dir. Patrick Nolan).
As the Artistic Director of the independent theatre company, The Other Theatre, Eugene has directed Graeme Koehne and Louis Nowra’s Love Burns, Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas, Shakespeare’s Richard II, Mike Bartlett’s Cock (co-production with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and Brand X) and the Australian premiere of Marius von Mayenburg’s The Dog, The Night and The Knife.
Eugene was the 2019 Young Director with Pacific Opera where he directed Puccini’s Suor Angelica and various workshops. Eugene was a two-time recipient of the Bright Ideas Grant. Eugene has been supported by CreateNSW and the Seaborn, Broughton & Walford Foundation.
