Celebrated as one of the leading tenors of our times, Michael Schade appears regularly on all of the important opera houses and concert stages of the world. Opera and concert performances have taken him to the Verbier, Lucerne, Grafenegg, Glyndebourne and Salzburg Festivals, the Vienna, Hamburg and Berlin State Operas, the Metropolitan Opera and Canadian Opera Company.
In addition to his opera career, Michael Schade devotes much of his artistry to concert and recital performances. He appears regularly with the leading orchestras of the world, under such renowned conductors as Bolton, Chailly, Harding, Jansons, Järvi, Manacorda, Muti, Nagano, Nézet-Séguin, Rattle, Thielemann, Ticciati and Young. His musical activities were strongly influenced by his frequent collaboration with Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
In 2007 the Vienna State Opera has awarded Mr. Schade with the title Austrian Kammersänger. The Internationale Barocktage Stift Melk has appointed Mr. Schade its Artistic Director through 2027. In 2017 Michael Schade was granted the title Officer to the Order of Canada (O.C.).
